Crystal Crowley PA-C - Pediatrics

Crystal Crowley, M.S., PA-C

Crystal Crowley is a fifth generation Colorado native who grew up on her family’s wheat farm in northeastern Colorado. She met her husband, Bob, when they were both undergrads at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Crystal and Bob were married in 1998 and have two young daughters, Elaina and Caroline. Crystal enjoys running, biking, reading, trying out new recipes, and continually improving her gardening. As a family, the Crowleys enjoy hiking, trips to the zoo, music, camping and getting outside to play at the park.

Medical Training and Specialty

Crystal received her BA in Kinesiology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Prior to PA school, she worked as an exercise physiologist at the Cardiac Care Center at The Children’s Hospital in Denver. She received her Masters degree from the Child Health Associate/Physician Assistant Program at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in 2004. She is a board certified Physician Assistant and joined Boulder Medical Center in September of 2004. Crystal enjoys taking care of children of all ages, providing anticipatory guidance and developing long-term relationships with patients and families. She especially enjoys the interaction with babies, children, adolescents and their families for regular check-ups and physicals. She regularly sees the patients from all of Boulder Medical Center’s pediatricians for both sick visits and physicals, and will actively involve and update a child’s primary pediatrician regarding care.

Physician assistants (PAs) are licensed health care providers who practice medicine or surgery with the supervision of a physician. They bring a comprehensive skill set to patient care and can conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret tests, counsel on preventative health care, assist in surgery and often write prescriptions. To earn the PA-C or Physician Assistant-Certified credential, PAs must complete an intense accredited PA educational program, often housed in medical colleges or universities. Then they must pass a national certification exam, demonstrating a breadth of general medical and surgical knowledge. To stay certified, PAs must earn at least 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years and pass a recertification exam every six years.

Crystal is certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). She is a member of the Society for Physician Assistants in Pediatrics and is a Clinical Instructor on the faculty of the University of Colorado Department of Pediatrics.
