After over 25 years of practicing neurology, I plan to retire from my practice as of June 7, 2008.

Originally from Minnesota, Dr. Newsom moved to Boulder with her family in 1985. Before attending medical school, Dr. Newsom, who also has a PhD in Psychology, taught psychology at Scottsdale Community College and Phoenix College in Arizona. Skiing, hiking and gardening are among her favorite non-medical interests.

MEDICAL TRAINING AND SPECIALTY

Dr. Newsom received her Medical Degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1981.She completed her residency in Neurology at Barrow Neurological Institute of St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona in 1985. Dr. Newsom, a Board Certified Neurologist, deals with diseases of the nervous system including strokes, seizures, and movement disorders such as Parkinsonism, peripheral nerve problems (such as pain, weakness or numbness), headaches, Alzheimer’s disease and multiple sclerosis. Additionally, Dr. Newsom does nerve conduction studies and electromyography.

Dr. Newsom belongs to the American Academy of Neurology, the Colorado Medical Society of Clinical Neurologists, the Colorado Medical Society and the Boulder County Medical Society.

To schedule an appointment with Dr. Newsom, please call 303-440-3250. Boulder Medical Center‘s office hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. However, specific hours for each physician may vary.
