Steven M. Weiner, MD - Urology

Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Weiner started practicing Adult and Pediatric Urology at the Boulder Medical Center in 1988.

He and his wife Wendy, who have been married since 1979, have four children, Sammy, Annie, Shaunie and Danny,

Dr. Weiner’s spare time activities include fishing, playing bridge, and poker, tennis, bowling: but, most importantly “being involved in my kids’ education and other activities including high school tennis, cheerleading, choir, hockey, and coaching baseball”. I am a life long Red Sox fan and now have one less thing to lament about in my life.

MEDICAL TRAINING AND SPECIALTY

He received his Medical Degree from the University of Colorado, Denver, in 1983 and went on to complete his internship and residency at the same school.

Dr. Weiner’s specialty is devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of surgical and medical conditions of the urinary tract, both male and female, and with conditions of the male genitalia. Urology is a dynamic specialty and has undergone many changes since he completed his training in 1988. To stay current, Dr. Weiner has taken additional training in urologic laparoscopy and vaginal sling procedures for female stress incontinence, lasers for the treatment of prostate and bladder conditions as well as stone disease, shock wave lithotripsy for stone disease, microwave thermotherapy for prostate enlargement, and radioactive seed implantation for prostate cancer. He has a keen interest in clinical research and has been or is currently a principal investigator in eight prostate, three impotence, and two incontinence studies.

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS

Dr. Weiner is Board Certified in Urology. He belongs to the American Urologic Association, the South Central Section of the American Urologic Association, the American Association of Clinical Urologists, the Federated Ambulatory Surgery Association, the Colorado Medical Society, the Boulder County Medical Society and the Rocky Mountain Urologic Society.

He is a staff physician at Boulder Community Hospital, Portercare Avista Hospital, Longmont United Hospital, and Presbyterian/St. Lukes Hospital. He has served as Chairman of Surgical Services at Boulder Community Hospital and is an active member of the Cancer Committee and Tumor Board. Dr. Weiner is also the Medical Director of Boulder Medical Center.
