About Alexandra Parshall

Alexandra Parshall, Au.D. was born in Australia and lived in Carmel, Indiana from the age of three onward. As a child, she was always interested in the medical world and loved learning how the body systems work. “I used to check out books from the library on anatomy and physiology,” she says. “I remember sneaking to watch medical shows on TV and trying to figure out diagnoses before the episodes would end.”

Dr. Parshall knew she wanted to be an audiologist after working as a behavior technician in an autism center. “A client’s parent told me she felt as if no one understood that her child had different needs than other kids,” she explains. “I felt a calling to support individuals and families who need a little extra care.”

Dr. Parshall decided to combine her Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Hearing with a passion for pediatrics and support for those with developmental disabilities. She decided to return to school and pursue a Doctoral Degree in Audiology.

As an audiologist, Dr. Parshall identifies, assesses, and manages disorders of hearing and balance in adults and children. She is inspired by building relationships with her patients and helping them find the best mode of communication for their needs. “Connection to others is so important, and being able to help facilitate that connection through communication is rewarding for me,” she says.

In her free time, Dr. Parshall spends time with family and friends and tries to get outdoors as often as possible. She and her partner enjoy skiing, hiking, camping, and spending time with their two dogs and two cats.

Philosophy of Care

“With adult patients, my philosophy of care considers the whole patient. I want my patients to know that I am looking at them as a person and not just a set of ears. I want them to feel heard and confident that if they express concerns about audiology and non-audiology-related issues, I am looking out for their wellbeing with thoughtful recommendations and referrals to effective professionals.

“My philosophy of care with children is family-centered. I involve the family as often as possible in the child’s care and decision-making. The patient’s family is their primary support and advocate until the kids can advocate for themselves, so it makes sense to ensure that the family feels that their voices and concerns are heard and addressed.

“The most important thing for my patients to know about my practice and myself is that I am a safe space and welcoming for all. I will always do my very best to provide the best care for them and will make sure that their voices and concerns are heard.”
