About Audrey Hemmings
Dr. Audrey Hemmings grew up in Greeley, Colorado and is a proud graduate of Colorado State University (CSU) in Fort Collins. She knew from the age of four that she wanted to become a doctor, and has always considered it her calling in life.
As a physician, Dr. Hemmings enjoys caring for others, developing relationships with her patients, and the commitment to lifelong learning. As an OB-GYN provider in particular, she considers it an “honor to care for and meet so many women across all age groups and play a part of their lives.” She wants her patients to know that she comes from a family of many strong women. “I am the youngest of four sisters,” she says. “I have eight aunts, ten female cousins, and three nieces. Women have played a large part in shaping who I am and I believe this background has given me the ability to connect with and develop strong relationships with my patients.”
She believes in providing compassionate care to her patients and educating herself to the highest level possible so that I can provide the best evidence-based care. “I strive to educate my patients as well, so they can play a role in the decisions that are made, she says.” Dr. Hemmings considers her empathetic nature to be among the best of the skills she brings to her practice. Additionally, she is a good listener, is self-disciplined, and has is passionate about helping others. Her ability to relate and build caring relationships with women who have a variety of values and personalities makes her a trusted and in-demand physician.
In her free time, Dr. Hemmings enjoys playing volleyball (she was a NCAA Division I women’s volleyball athlete during her time at CSU), reading, shopping, skiing and anything outdoors.
As a doctor of osteopathic medicine (DO), Dr. Hemmings completed the same rigorous curriculum and board certifications as the allopathic programs, however, her training included a holistic and preventative approach to medicine. They were taught that medicine and the healing process involves the mind-body-spirit as a whole and that each of these parts must be addressed to optimize a person’s health.
Part of this approach also included training in osteopathic manipulative medicine. This involved a more intricate study of the musculoskeletal system and education on how to identify and treat structural problems in order to improve a person’s overall health.
Dr. Hemmings provides the full spectrum of OB-GYN care including:
- Routine gynecologic care with preventative medicine
- Minimally invasive surgery, including da Vinci robotic system
- Contraceptive counseling
- Low/high risk pregnancy and/or labor care
