About Madeline Hoglund

BACKGROUND

Madeline Hoglund is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner in the Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Clinic. She enjoys caring for adult and pediatric patients.

After graduating with her first bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado-Boulder, Madeline spent a few years traveling the world, guiding outdoor adventures, and snowboarding. She then completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at University of Colorado-Denver. After working for several years as a Registered Nurse at the St. Joseph Hospital general surgery department in Denver, Madeline earned a Master of Science from Georgetown University.

Madeline holds a position as Adjoint Clinical Faculty at the University of Colorado College of Nursing.

She has practiced alongside Dr. Karen Andrews in the Allergy & Immunology Clinic since 2014 and feels deeply connected to this specialty area.

PHILOSOPHY OF CARE

Madeline went into nursing after caring for her sick father. She appreciates the medical field for its unique intersection of science and interpersonal relationships. As a nurse practitioner, Madeline applies scientific innovation to real life problem-solving while building strong connections with her patients.

“My nursing background helps me view my patients from a holistic perspective that emphasizes patient education and a strong partnership between myself and the patient,” Madeline says. “My job is incredibly dynamic and I never get bored.”

Madeline practices evidence-based medicine while caring for each patient as a holistic being. She values providing individualized support and education that makes a difference in her patients’ quality of life.

A native of Boulder (her husband affectionately refers to her as a “townie”), Madeline feels fortunate to care for the people in her own community. When not working, you can find Madeline playing with her two young children, enjoying a good restaurant with her husband, Peter, snowboarding, and spending time with her extended family who live nearby.

“Madeline is a wonderful practitioner. What really strikes me about her care is that she always calls me personally about lab results or other follow-up, even mundane things that a nurse or assistant could take care of. She has spent 15-20 minutes on the phone with me on a number of occasions patiently answering silly questions and explaining things to me. ”
