Chris Pohlman, MD

Dr. Chris Pohlman is a board-certified general surgeon who has cared for Boulder County community patients for more than 20 years. He provides comprehensive surgical care with an emphasis on minimally invasive techniques. Originally from Phoenix, Arizona, Dr. Pohlman first discovered his passion for medicine while accompanying his speech pathologist mother on patient rounds at the VA hospital. He completed his medical education at the University of Colorado, deepening his ties to the Front Range community.

Dr. Pohlman specializes in advanced laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgery, focusing on smaller incisions, reducing discomfort, and helping patients return to normal activities as quickly as possible. He is committed to tailoring each treatment plan to the individual, combining significant surgical experience with a personal, attentive approach.

One of the most rewarding aspects of his work is seeing patients recover fully after surgery, ready to return to the lives they love. To support this journey, Dr. Pohlman and his team prioritize clear communication, taking time to listen, and helping ease any anxieties patients may feel.

Outside the operating room, Dr. Pohlman enjoys spending time with his family and exploring Colorado through hiking, biking, camping, and traveling.

• Minimally Invasive Hernia Repair:  Laparoscopic and robotic techniques repair inguinal, umbilical, and ventral hernias with smaller incisions and faster recovery times.
• Gallbladder Removal (Cholecystectomy):  Laparoscopic surgery to treat gallstones and gallbladder disease.
• Reflux Surgery:  Procedures such as laparoscopic fundoplication to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
• Colectomy:  Partial or total removal of the colon for conditions like colon cancer, diverticulitis, or inflammatory bowel disease, using minimally invasive approaches when appropriate.
• Hemorrhoidectomy:  Surgical removal of hemorrhoids causing pain or bleeding.
