About Dr. Ditton
Growing up in Overland Park, Kansas, Gillian Ditton, MD, knew from a young age that she wanted to fuse her love of human biology with a career in serving others. Her competitive career in ice skating led to her developing an unparalleled sense of self-discipline and commitment to problem-solving, two characteristics that she brings to her Endocrinology practice.
Dr. Ditton’s passion for practicing medicine comes from the ability to get to know her patients on a personal level. “As a physician, patients share the most intimate details of their life with you,” she says. “I am honored they trust me with those details, as this helps me to deliver the best possible care. I value serving my community by improving the health of my patients.”
She is particularly inspired by endocrinology because the field allows her to provide continuity of care in an outpatient setting. “I also enjoy this field because the medicine is always evolving and many endocrine disorders have multi-systemic effects,” she says. “This allows me to combine my dedication to lifelong learning with understanding the patient holistically.”
Dr. Ditton brings the skills of compassion, patience, dedication, and thoroughness to her practice. “I want our community to see my practice as inclusive and accepting of all,” she says. Her care philosophy focuses on the patient, above all. “I believe that by listening to patients and sharing my knowledge I can empower them to make the most informed decisions,” she explains. “I consider medicine a team sport and don’t hesitate to reach out to other specialists for advice, if needed.”
In her free time Dr. Ditton enjoys hiking, exploring, riding bikes, traveling, singing, walking with her golden retriever puppy (Lilly), spending time with her husband, parents and friends.
