Harold Johnson, MD
About Harold Johnson
Dr. Harold Johnson is a board certified Family Medicine specialist with over 26 years experience in the medical field. Initially from Denver and Longmont, Colorado, Dr. Johnson moved with his family to Sarasota, Florida, at age 7.
Growing up in Sarasota, his father was a physician and Dr. Johnson had medicine on his mind at a young age. He decided to pursue medical studies while in high school and completed undergraduate studies at Cornell University, medical school at the University of Miami, and Family Medicine residency at the University of Colorado in Denver.
He returned to Sarasota for 20 years, where he built a busy primary care practice and was in high demand within the community. Dr. Johnson has been named a Castle Connelly “Top Doctor” annually since 2012. He has held numerous leadership roles, including Chairman of the Medicine Department at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, a 829-bed teaching hospital.
Dr. Johnson returns to Colorado with his 3 children and wife, Dr Krista Toomre, who is a native of Boulder and graduated from Boulder High School.
In his free time, Dr. Johnson likes to spend time in nature and with his family. He enjoys cycling, running, skiing, hiking, backpacking, and fly fishing. While in Sarasota, he helped start the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast, a land trust that has protected over 17,000 acres of critical land. He also served on the organization’s board for 17 years. Dr. Johnson looks forward to becoming involved in the Boulder Valley community.
