New BMC Executive Team:
Donna Basden is Named CEO and Brian Wood is CFO
BOULDER, COLORADO — The Boulder Medical Center (BMC) Board of Directors announced today that Donna Basden, MHA, BSN, has been named CEO, and Brian Wood is the new CFO of the company.
“Donna and Brian are engaged and enthusiastic leaders with a breadth of experience and focus on patient-centered care who will guide Boulder Medical Center into the future,” said Dr. Heather Bright Hoffmeyer, BMC Board President.
Donna Basden is the first female CEO in Boulder Medical Center’s history, which spans over 70 years. “We are thrilled that Donna is taking on this leadership role. She shares the Board’s vision to help BMC maintain its independence and meet the health care needs in our community for the long term,” Dr. Bright Hoffmeyer said.
As an experienced business leader, Donna joined BMC on April 4, 2022, succeeding Interim CEO, Mindy Markley, who retired. Donna brings over 30 years of experience in the health care field in acute and ambulatory care settings across complex academic, not-for-profit, and for-profit environments. Prior to BMC, she served as the Chief Operating Officer of Lovelace Medical Group at Lovelace Health System in New Mexico.
“It is an honor to join Boulder Medical Center, an organization committed to improving the health and well-being of the citizens in our community,” Donna said. “BMC’s commitment to patient-centered care is more than words. I have witnessed a consistent theme in the way care decisions are made and care is delivered throughout the organization. Everyone is enthusiastic about doing the right thing for our patients. I am passionate about caring for people and am thrilled to partner with an organization that aligns with my values.”
Brian Wood succeeds Stu Schwartz, who retired as CFO after more than 32 years. Brian is a seasoned health care finance professional who comes to BMC from Revere Health, a large, independent multi-specialty medical group in Utah. He assumed CFO duties on February 16, 2022.
“I joined Boulder Medical Center because the physicians and staff are a community-focused, independent, multi-specialty group that strives to deliver quality care for their patients,” he said. “It is a privilege to be part of an organization that has been trusted in this community since 1949.”
