Meet our Team

(l-r): Johnathan Underwood, Emily Pearson, and Grayson Rank

Johnathan Underwood

Born in the soulful city of Memphis, Tennessee, Johnathan is always ready to give his patients wonderful Southern hospitality at the drop of a hat. This skill, coupled with his BFA in theatre, is why his motto is that patient care should be streamless, educational, and the ultimate experience from beginning to end. With his 12-year background in optical, Johnathan is a multifaceted, American Board of Optometry certified optician with a strong eye for style. He is determined to ensure his patients see their best and look their best. “The perfect eyewear marries function, architect, and art beautifully on one’s face,” he says. “I love frame-styling people! Consulting with patients is a fun service because I can help accentuate their personal style while helping them see better. It’s an extraordinary feeling when people fall in love with their glasses.”

Emily Pearson

Emily is our newest optician in training. With over four years of fashion retail management experience, she has an excellent eye for style and a warm sense of customer service.  She utilizes these skills to help others feel welcomed, listened to, and beautiful. Remembering back to high school when she was prescribed eyeglasses, her first pair was functional but didn’t help her exude confidence. Emily is excited to join the world of optical to help ensure everyone is confident and able to express their style through eyewear. In her free time, you can find Emily playing with her 6-pound Yorkie, daydreaming, or brunching with her friends.

Grayson Rank

Meet Grayson, a dedicated optician who is thrilled to join the team at Boulder Medical Center. With extensive knowledge and expertise in opticianry, Grayson is committed to providing honest, compassionate, and personalized service to every patient. He understands that there is no one-size-fits-all solution in this field and aims to ensure that each patient leaves with eyewear that caters to their unique focal needs while looking great. When not at work, Grayson indulges in his passions for illustration, reading, and birdwatching.

“The BMC Optical Department is excellent at attending to whatever is needed, and I strongly recommend them to others. While making some adjustments, they caught a problem with a pair of new glasses and returned them for a redo. They give advice (including financial considerations) on choosing coatings and styles. I have confidence in their recommendations because they have demonstrated that their advice is intended for my benefit. They are also very welcoming and friendly.”

“There is an eyeglass store at the ophthalmologist’s office on the first floor of Boulder Medical Center on Broadway. The gentleman there, Warren, is a human encyclopedia of knowledge of eyeglass frames. Highly recommended!”
